Pre-code horror comic book splash pages come alive in “Splash of Horror,” a new 64 page full color and black and white book covering rare pre-code horror comic book splash pages from the golden age of horror comics. Presented in comic book format with the images as close to the original dimensions as the art originally printed in those precode horror comics.
Compiled and edited by “Horror Mike” Lyddon, a long time indie filmmaker. His pre-code horror comic books documentary HAUNTED THRILLS won six awards for best short doc and was an official entry in 22 film festivals worldwide during 2022 – 2023.
Splash of Horror presents a fine selection of pre-code comic book titles including Strange Mysteries, Horrific, Black Magic, Web of Evil, Weird Chills, and Voodoo. Many of these were taken directly from Mike Lyddon’s own collection of pre-code horror comics, Stanley Morse illustrated horror magazines of the 1960’s – 70’s, and Eerie Publications issues from the same period. Artists include Eugene Hughes, Bob Powell, Edvard Moritz, Jack Kirby, Iger Shop, Ross Andru, Jack Cole, and a host of others.
